The key to the success of this title is quite simple: polish. Though the game has met with many delays-it was originally slated to be a launch title- Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is everything that gamers have been waiting for: a solid, well-developed, long-lasting experience that casts aside Nintendo's "casual-friendly" focus of late for the sake of unadulterated gaming. Should Corruption fail at captivating the masses and proving what the system is capable of, the Wii could be dealt a serious critical blow. As one of the first titles in the second generation of Wii software, Corruption marks the first significant first-party post-launch release for the system and is one of the games that won't be able to make any excuses for not properly implementing the various selling points of Nintendo's box. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is an important game for Nintendo. Samus, together with the various other Prime Hunters, must fend off the attacks of the relentless Space Pirates, defeat Dark Samus, and bring order to the universe for the Galactic Federation. The time has now come to finish the war and finally defeat Dark Samus. Samus is sent to investigate a mysterious Space Pirate ship that appears to be harvesting Phazon from a planet home to a war between a weakened light and a dominant dark faction, only to find herself fighting for survival against her newfound nemesis, Dark Samus. The chase for Prime continued through the second installment in the series, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. After being defeated, Prime recoiled and regrouped, becoming the sinister "Dark Samus."
Venturing forth into the ruined worlds of the Chozo, an ancient civilization known to wield a fearsome power, Samus eventually encountered "Metroid Prime," a devilish creature hellbent on destroying Samus and absorbing as much Phazon energy as possible.

What started as a fairly simple response to a distress signal of a neighboring frigate in the original Metroid Prime went on to take Samus Aran, the series protagonist, on a long-running adventure that has spanned three games.
