Another example is the Speedmaster '57 collection, which pays homage to the first Speedmaster models from the late 1950s. This collection is outfitted with the legendary caliber 321, the movement that powered the Omega Speedmaster worn by astronaut Ed White during his spacewalk in 1965 – the first American to achieve such a feat. In 2019, Omega opened its vaults and released the Calibre 321 collection. Retro models are also a hot commodity among Speedmaster fans.

It's a similar story for the Snoopy edition released in 2020, with prices on the secondary market reaching more than triple the watch's original list price of 9,600 USD. New pieces demand roughly 24,500 USD and have also sharply risen in value over the last few years. The first Snoopy special edition appeared in 2003, has a black dial, and had a limited production run of 5,441 pieces. Limited to a run of 1,970 pieces, this timepiece will now set you back around 50,000 USD in mint condition.

The version with a white dial officially cost 7,350 USD new. The Omega Speedmaster Apollo 13 Silver Snoopy Award has also performed well since its release. Both models are limited to runs of 2,012 pieces. Prices for the Speedy Tuesday 2 "Ultraman" from 2018 have performed similarly. Since then, prices have climbed to around 13,000 USD. The Speedmaster Speedy Tuesday had an original list price of 6,500 USD. One example is the Speedmaster Speedy Tuesday Limited Edition, which the Biel-based manufacturer introduced in 2017 to celebrate five years of #speedytuesday. Since they are so popular among Omega fans, their prices tend to skyrocket within a short period of time.

These series often sell out quickly due to their extremely restricted numbers. Omega regularly releases special limited editions of the Speedmaster. Top watches feature Omega Master Chronometer calibers with magnetic resistance up to 15,000 gauss.

However, today the Speedmaster is so much more than just the " Moonwatch." The collection contains numerous models: from manual chronographs and especially precise quartz watches with analog and digital displays, to automatic timepieces with state-of-the-art Co-Axial movements. Most fans associate this Omega watch with the first Moon landing in July 1969. The Speedmaster has been in production since the tail-fin era, and Omega has spun out numerous variations: a moon phase dial, dials carved from meteorites, even one featuring Snoopy.Every watch enthusiast knows the Omega Speedmaster. Not all Speedies, however, are created equal. “It shows that they care about craftsmanship and history, but are responsible, and aren’t flaunting six-figure Patek Philippe or Richard Mille watches,” he said. No wonder the watch has particular appeal among Silicon Valley deal makers, said Eric Wind, a vintage watch dealer in Florida. With its minimalist black dial recalling an old Porsche speedometer, the chronograph oozes stealth-wealth allure. Part of the draw is Speedmaster’s no-nonsense, action-watch heritage. To me, this feels like the market maturing.”

“Now, we’re seeing all manner of Speedies from the 1950s and ’60s pulling big numbers. “If you had told me five years ago that we’d see a $400,000 Speedmaster that hadn’t been to the moon, I would have rolled my eyes,” said Stephen Pulvirent, the managing editor of the watch site Hodinkee.
